Patanjali Ayurved is eyeing for the IPL title sponsorship of the year 2020. The company is trying to make a mark in the large global market through IPL. The environment of the country can also be useful at this time.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 could be a little more ‘desi’ this time. India’s major consumer goods company Patanjali Ayurved has joined this year’s title sponsors. After the departure of Chinese company Vivo, Patanjali sees an opportunity for itself. The company official has also confirmed this.

Company spokesperson SK Tijarawala has also confirmed this. Tijarawala said, ‘We are thinking about it. It is a matter of vocal for local. It is a matter of taking one India brand globally and that is the platform for that. We are also thinking in this direction.

Patanjali gains more

Brand strategist Harish Bijoor says, “If Patanjali becomes a title sponsor, it has more advantages than IPL. If Patanjali achieves sponsorship it will be linked to nationality because at this time there is a very heavy atmosphere against China.

Although the IPL will be played in the empty ground and that too outside the country, the IPL TV viewership is in crores. Companies know that this is seen quite a lot and hence good returns are expected by advertising in this event.

What is the matter

Last week, BCCI and Vivo decided to part ways for the 2020 IPL season. This year’s season 19 is scheduled to be played in UAE from September. This happened due to the atmosphere against the use of Chinese products in the country.

The annual earnings from title sponsorship in IPL are split halfway between BCCI and franchisees.

Vivo had won the title sponsorship for Rs 2190 crore for five years from 2018-2022. That is, about Rs 440 crore a year.
