Two employees of the Indian embassy in Islamabad were abducted and questioned for about six hours. They were repeatedly beaten with sticks and bathed and given extremely dirty water to drink.

Highlights

  • Two Indian Mission personnel abducted in Islamabad, held hostage for 12 hours
  • 15-16 armed people kidnapped, blindfolded and handcuffed
  • Both were beaten up badly after being taken to an unknown place, the interrogation lasted for several hours
  • Attackers forcefully make videos, ask for information about high commission work

Two employees of the Indian Embassy in Pakistan were tortured and held hostage. Both of the kidnapped employees were released on Monday morning, but their condition was very bad. He was severely beaten for information for about 12 hours in custody. When both of them asked for water, the attackers gave them extremely dirty water. According to the report published in the Hindustan Times, both were informed of their role and the work of all the High Commission employees.

The entire plan was abducted

Around 8.30 am on Monday morning, both staffs were picked up from a petrol pump located near the embassy. There were 15–16 armed men in six vehicles. The employees’ hands were tied and blindfolded. He was interrogated for about six hours after being taken to a place situated at a distance of about 10 minutes. During this time, he was repeatedly beaten with sticks and given to drink dirty water. Both were able to walk but there were bruises on the neck, face, and thigh. No fatal injuries have been detected in the medical examination.

Registered till the false FIR

The Islamabad Police had made full arrangements to trap both Indian staffs. HT has seen an FIR claiming that the fake currency of 10,000 Pakistani rupees was found in the Car of both of them. The Pakistani media claimed that Indian employees were arrested because their car hit a passer-by. In order to push this Narrative, Kidnappers pressurized both the employees on video that they had an accident.

Pakistan created drama to take revenge?

Both employees were threatened that the condition of the High Commission would be the same from now on. He was handed back to the Indian Embassy at around 9 pm. This action is seen as retaliation. On 31 May, India caught two Pakistani High Commission staffers red-handed while spying. He was then repatriated to Pakistan within 24 hours.
