At the meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approval was given for Productivity Linked Bonus or PLB for the year 2019-2020.

Around  30.67 lakh Central government employees will receive a bonus for 2019-2020, Union minister Prakash Javadekar said today, bringing an end to the uncertainty over the issue as the festive season started across the country. The total cost to the exchequer will be ₹ 3,737 crore, the minister said after a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“The Union Cabinet supports profitability connected bonus and non-efficiency connected Bonus for 2019-2020. In excess of 30 lakh, non-gazetted employees will be profited by the bonus declaration and all-out money related ramifications will be ₹ 3,737 crores,” Union minister Prakash Javadekar said this evening.

The cash will be given in a solitary portion before Vijaya Dashami, Mr. Javadekar stated, communicating trust that it would support spending and lift the economy.

In the setting of the Covid flare-up, there have been worries about whether the administration will offer a bonus. Prior to this year, as the lockdown began, Dearness Allowances or DA was suspended for CEntral government employees. A lump of employees in different state governments needed to forego part of their pay.

Today, the focal government said the cabinet affirmed the Productivity-Linked Bonus or PLB for 2019-2020, which would profit 16.97 lakh, non-gazetted employees of business foundations like railroads, posts, safeguard, EPFO, and the ESIC.

Non-PLB or impromptu bonus is given to non-gazetted Central government employees, from which 13.70 lakh employees will profit, the legislature said. Bonus to non-gazetted employees – implied for execution in the first year – is normally made before the Durga Puja or Dussehra celebrations.
